The Belgian procontinentale team Wanty-Groupe Gobert has Monday, a pre-selection of twelve riders for the Tour de France into the world. The team of Hilaire Van der Schueren gave five names that are already sure of their place in the Tourselectie.

These five certainties are Thomas Degand, the French Guillaume Martin and Yoann Offredo, the Dutchman Marco Minnaard and the Italian Andrea Pasqualon. For the last three names will be chosen out of seven riders: Frederik Backaert, Timothy Dupont, Xandro Meurisse, Pieter Vanspeybrouck, Guillaume Van Keirsbulck, the Norwegian Christian Odd Eiking and the New Zealander Dion Smith. The final eight headed selection after the PA announced.

“Five riders are already sure of their participation in the Tour, since our ambitions are more or less similar to that of last year,” explained sports director Hilaire Van der Schueren. “Guillaume Martin is our leader and deserves to be assisted, hence the choice for Thomas Degand and Marco Minnaard. Andrea Pasqualon is currently the leader in the UCI Europe Tour and wrote over the past weeks, four victories to his name. He deserves to be there, just as Yoann Offredo. That showed last year his versatility and usefulness for the team in our debut. The last three riders are referred to after the BK, that Sunday takes place in Binche.”
