ROTTERDAM – Goalkeeper Sonny Stevens will get a chance in the premier league. The 25-year-old goalkeeper moves from Go Ahead Eagles to Excelsior. If the medical examination in Rotterdam, no problems, signed Stevens to a contract for two years.
The North-Hollander played at the highest level at FC Twente. Stevens was given after a strong season at FC Volendam in 2013, a four-year contract in Enschede. By two major injuries, to his shoulder and his knee, came to the goalkeeper, however, barely in action for the Tukkers. Last year he stepped on to Go Ahead Eagles. In the Jupiler League was Stevens last season in 38 games under the crossbar.
,,I wanted to be higher up and it is important for me to play,” says Stevens. ,,That chance is at Excelsior.” The goalkeeper is in Rotterdam and together with Maarten de Fockert. The 23-year-old jeugdinternational served last season as a mercenary of sc Heerenveen as a reserve behind Stevens at Go Ahead Eagles. Excelsior laid The Fockert recently for two years.
