GUATEMALA-CITY – Guatemala will stop the search for victims in the area that is worst affected by the eruption of Volcán de Fuego. That the disaster agency Conred Sunday published in the local media after a meeting in the city of Escuintla.
“The searches are finally over and done with in the villages of San Miguel Los Lotes and El Rodeo. The region is uninhabitable, and the risk is very large,” was the statement. The eruption of the Fuego, which two weeks ago began, to sure 110 people killed. There are still 197 missing.
Members of the voluntary fire brigade in the municipality of Alotenango, at the east of the volcano, continue the search for two disappeared colleagues. That is a part of the cleanup efforts.
