The 32-year-old Campine won Saturday in the semi-finals in three sets with a 7-5, 6-7 (7/9), 6-4, Slovakian Viktoria Kuzmova (WTA 81), that in the second round, yet Alison Van Uytvanck (WTA 47) had knocked. The match lasted two hours and 21 minutes.
In the final state Flipkens for the first time compared to the 25-year-old Serbian Aleksandra Krunic (WTA 55). Who retired in her semifinal the American first seed Coco Vandeweghe (WTA 16) after 2 hours and 35 minutes, with a 2-6, 7-6 (7/4) 7-6 (7/1).
It is the second time that Flipkens in Rosmalen in the final state. In 2013, she lost it with 6-4 and 6-2 by Romanian Simona Halep, the current number one in the world. Sunday plays Flipkens in her fourth WTA final. In 2016, she was also runner-up in Mexican Monterrey, in 2012, she won in the Canadian Quebec. Krunic was last year’s losing finalist in Guangzhou, China, and opened her palmares with victory in the Croatian Sphere.
