King Carl Gustaf of Sweden has Thursday evening the prestigious Polar Music Prizes were awarded. The awards went this year to the rock band Metallica and The Afghanistan National Institute of Music.
The awards are each year presented to artists who have a special contribution to the music. Since 1992, they have won, among others, artists such as Paul McCartney, Sting, Quincy Jones, Joni Mitchell, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and Ray Charles.
Metallica was not complete at the awards ceremony in the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm. Only drummer Lars Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo were of the party.
