After the loss of three is Koksijde arrival of Handzame Classic

The ninth edition of the Handzame Classic (1.BC) with Koksijde for a new arrival. The organisers signed Tuesday during a press conference in Golf Ter Hille is an agreement to 2024, with the coastal city. Also the Handzame Challenge will not arrive in Handy. The denouement of the classic promises the next six years will also take place in Koksijde.

“We want this to tie in with a true cycling tradition,” says mayor Marc Vanden Bussche (Open Vld), the mayor of Koksijde. “With the disappearance of the Three days of De Panne-Koksijde we tarried somewhat orphaned. Bert Pattyn, organizer of the Handzame Classic, came to us knocking on your door. Immediately we came to an agreement to for the duration of six years as a finish line of that race to act.”

Organizer Bert Pattyn is satisfied with the new arrival. “It’s a heartache to have to leave out Manageable, where it all began. But we could not do otherwise. We were there to be limited in terms of accommodation and in terms of logistics. Of course, moving to Koksijde is also financially interesting. Our date is retained, just after Danilith-Nokere Classic and Milan-Sanremo. In 2019 is our course held on Friday 22 march.”

A new finish line, of course, means a new trail. “The intention is to keep our individuality as much as possible to take to Koksijde,” says race director and course builder Stefaan Decleir. “Bredene continues to function as our starting location, from there we put in a rough guide price to Handy. After Handy it goes in the direction of the Hills, where we have the climbs of the Scherpenberg, Kemmelberg and Rodeberg. Through the Nuts we go to Koksijde, where there are still a few local rounds will be finished. The finish line is drawn on the Ter Duinenlaan in Koksijde.”

Last year took the victory in the Handzame Classic to the Colombian Alvaro Hodeg.
