The play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the musical The Band’s Visit are the big winners at the presentation of the Tony Awards. Harry Potter silver-plated six of the ten nominations in the most important American toneelprijzen, including statuettes for best play and best director. The Band’s Visit fell in New York ten awards, including best musical.

The show about Harry Potter is the critically acclaimed sequel to the series in which the main character and his son is twenty years older. The Band’s Visit is based on an Israeli film from 2007. The story revolves around a small Egyptian politiefanfare in a village in Israel land.
Andrew Garfield won the Tony Award for best male lead for his role in the play Angels In America. It is the first time that the British actor, these large wins an award. He dedicates his award to the LBGTQ community.
,,For me it was a great honor to be Prior Walter to play in Angels In America, because he is the most pure form of humanity represents, and particularly those of the LBGTQ community,” said Garfield during his acceptance speech after receiving the prize. The character of Prior Walter is a tormented gay man who is fighting against AIDS.
The award for best female lead was Glenda Jackson in the play Three Tall Women. The musicals were the Awards for best male and female lead role to Tony Shalhoub and Katrina Lenk, who were both in The Band’s Visit played.
