John Lasseter, head of Disney Animation and co-founder of Pixar, has resigned. He acknowledges that he has faults he has committed, after he was accused of sexual misconduct.
Disney made Friday known that Lasseter to the end of 2018 remains on as a consultant. Then he leaves the company permanently. Disney CEO Robert A. Iger: “John has a remarkable career behind Pixar and Disney Animation. He has the animation, re-invented, breathtaking risks being taken and original stories that remain. We are very grateful for his work, including a masterful and remarkable turnaround of the Walt Disney Animation Studios.”
Lasseter retired in november temporarily returned after the allegations. He took a sabbatical of six months and apologized to everyone that he was ’an unwanted hug, or other gesture’. “In the past six months have given me a chance to think about my life, career and personal priorities”, said Lasseter Saturday in a statement. “Although I committed to stay until the art of animation and inspired by the creative talent at Pixar and Disney, I decided that the end of the year is the right time to begin focusing on new creative challenges.”
