VIENNA – The Austrian government to close seven mosques and points to several imams from. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that his country is no place for “parallel societies, political islam and radicalisation.”
The authorities examine whether imams a prohibition violation on financing from abroad, said minister Herbert Kickl (Home Affairs). In at least two cases would already have been identified that clergy in the country must leave. There is still research being done to dozens of other imams.
Kurz state since last december at the head of a coalition with the christian democratic ÖVP (Austrian people’s Party) and the right-populist FPÖ (Vrijheidspartij of Austria).
