FC Barcelona ex-player Eric Abidal has been appointed as technical director. He follows in his new role, Robert Fernandez, whose contract was not renewed.
Abidal (38) was already working as an ambassador for the Spanish football club. He will be officially presented at Camp Nou on Monday 18 July.
The French old defender came between 2007 and 2013 for FC Barcelona. He conquered with the Catalans, including two titles in the Champions League, two world cups for club teams, four national titles and a Spanish cup.
In march 2011, it was a tumor on his liver established. The tumor was successfully and without complications removed. A year later, had to Abidal, nevertheless, he receives a liver transplant. Also that was successfully implemented, after which he in October of the same year, his comeback could make.
Abidal played for Monaco (2000 to 2002 and 2013-2014), Lille (2002-2004), Olympique Lyon (2004-2007) and Olympiakos (2014). He came 67 times for ‘Les Bleus’ and was there at the world cup of 2006 and 2010 and the european CHAMPIONSHIP of 2008.
