Appeal drugszaak Frank Masmeijer begins

ANTWERP – At the court of appeal in Antwerp starts Thursday the appeal in the large drugszaak which former tv presenter Frank Masmeijer an alleged role plays. Masmeijer got last year to eight years imprisonment and a fine of 48,000 euros imposed for involvement in the importation of 467 kilos of cocaine through the port of Antwerp. Against him was seven years ‘ imprisonment demanded. The former NCRV-television star has his share always denied and went on appeal.

The case has a total of 32 suspects, and for their appeal to the court in a total of three days in June pulled out. When the case of Masmeijer and his defense has to be addressed, is not yet known.

It is also still unclear whether the 56-year-old Dutchman in the process. He was ten months in custody but is now on free feet. According to his lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops wants, he himself will gladly defend but risks he is also a detention if he is in Belgium. According to Knoops stay his client is currently in the Netherlands.
