The highly anticipated new film by Stijn Coninx, “don’t Shoot”, is on 10 October in the cinemas. The film is based on the book and life story in ‘don’t Shoot, that’s my daddy! ” from David Of the Stone.
The film departs from the point of view of David’s grandfather. That role for Jan Decleir. The role of David himself by three different actors played: the brothers Mo and Kes Baker (‘See Me Please’) to take the age of 9 and 14 years for their account, the adult David is a role for Jonas Van Geel. 25 years after ‘Daens’, this is again a huge collaboration between Conix and Decleir, and once again, it is a historical story.
The film start with the latest and most bloodthirsty massacre of the Gang of Nijvel in 1985. The parents and sister of David are for the eyes of the boy stabbed. His grandparents try to take him as good as possible, but that is not an easy task. They remain behind with the great loss and sadness and many unanswered questions. The story of David and that of his grandparents indicates what the many victims of The Gang of Nivelles have experienced, both during the robbery and during their long struggle that followed and continues to today.
