A so-called ’grand jury’ bent Wednesday on the question of whether a prosecutor sufficient evidence to file a lawsuit against Weinstein to start. The police in New York has for months investigated the 66-year-old film producer. Apparently produced for the jury enough evidence to Weinstein to sue for rape and “criminal sex” with two women in 2004 and 2013.
It comes to so-called charges of first and third degree. The first degree is the most serious variant of rape and “criminal sex”. There is in New York, five to 25 years in prison.
“This summons brings the defendant a step closer to accountability for the crimes with which he is charged”, wrote the prosecutor of Manhattan. In a response to the summons showed Weinsteins lawyer to know that the cases the film does not intend to confess guilt for “these baseless allegations.”
Weinstein reported last week to be with the police in New York. Dozens of women have the producer accused of sexual abuse. This was the impetus for the growth of the #MeToo movement.
