the World’s number one Simona Halep has Wednesday placed before the second round of Roland Garros. The Romanian defeated the American Alison Riske (WTA 83) in three sets: 2-6, 6-1 and 6-1. The match lasted one hour and 37 minutes.
Halep started surprisingly weak on her match and looked after a half hour at a 0-5 deficit. They could not come back and lost the first set 2-6. In the second set, the Romanian, the roles completely around and she was after something more than twenty minutes 5-0. They picked up the set 6-1, and went also in the third set goes beyond the 27-year-old Riske: 6-1.
Last year, the 26-year-old Halep is still in the final of Roland Garros, but lost when the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, who Sunday in the first round was eliminated by the Ukrainian Kateryna Kozlova. The 23-year-old Svitolina won this season all three WTA tournaments. In Brisbane, Dubai and Rome, she was always the strongest. In her career, picked up the Ukrainian for twelve WTA tour victories. Svitolina was never in the final of a grand slam tournament. Last year she made the last eight in Paris.
In the third round takes Svitolina against the Romanian Mihaela Buzarnescu (WTA 33). Who defeated Wednesday in its second round, the Swedish Rebecca Peterson (WTA 97) in two sets: 6-1 and 6-2. Svitolina and Buzarnescu meet each other for the first time.
Argentinian fairy tale is over
The Argentine Marco Trungelliti (ATP 190) is Wednesday off in the second round of Roland Garros. He lost to the Italian Mario Cecchinato (ATP 72) in three sets: 6-1, 7-6 (7/1) 6-1. The match lasted two hours and a minute. This brings to an end the tale of the 28-year-old Trungelliti, that Sunday night in Paris, arrived after a journey of eight hours a night his first round won.
Trungelliti went out last week after his defeat in the last qualifying round disappointed back to his hometown of Barcelona. But after the deregistration of the Australian Nick Kyrgios (ATP 23) there was a spot on the main table and if Trungelliti raids as a ‘lucky loser’.
The Argentine did not hesitate and hired, together with his mother, brother and grandmother in a car in Barcelona. After a journey of eight hours and 1.035 miles, he came at midnight knock on the organization in Paris to Kyrgios to replace.
