The 25th edition of the music festival “Jazz in ‘t Park” in a new look. The anniversary edition of the Gent jazz festival is in a larger tent organized with special atmospheric lighting. On the bill amongst others, the Belgian jazz Philip Catherine and the Belgian jazz band Taxiwars.
For the first time a gastprogrammator decide who gets a place on the podium. That is when the next edition former journalist Karel Van Keymeulen.
‘Jazz in ‘t Park lays an emphasis on Belgian jazz with well-known names, but also places a new generation of Belgian jazz artists on the bill. Van Keymeulen late saxophonist Robin Verheyen fly from New York to perform with his trio Aleatoric is the only Belgian concert in which the eponymous cd ‘Aleatoric’ is played.
Also this year, the festival together with the city library The Krook. “LOOPS”, the sound installation by musician Bart Maris, was given temporary shelter. The installation is adapted to the space and turns it into a so-called ‘soundscape’. On Saturday 8 september program ” Jazz in ‘t Park’ also has a ‘library session’ in The Krook with Ghent’s urban composer and pianist Fulco Ottervanger, who was a guest musician brings.
‘Jazz in ‘t Park 2018’ will take place from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 september 2018 in the south park of Ghent.
