Top chef Piet Huysentruyt has a new book and a documentary to be finished around “Likoké on Tour”, the pop-uprestaurant that the past few months the world was. The book and the movie are Monday proposed at Kinepolis Kortrijk. Thus comes an end to the project which Huysentruyt the ultimate tribute wanted to bring to his father.
The project began with three mysterious inflatable fish that floated on the river Lys in Kortrijk. It soon turned out to be the start of a new concept of Piet Huysentruyt, namely “Likoké on Tour”. The past few months, he chose five locations to explore and to cooking, with the ultimate goal of Franschhoek in South Africa. This was the West-Flemish is the ultimate tribute to pay to his father who during his time in the Congo Likoké was called, a name derived from an elusive fish in the congo river.
The story began with a pop-uprestaurant in Kortrijk, where the roots of Huysentruyt. Then pulled Huysentruyt and his team to Japan, Bali and Singapore to end up in Franschhoek where he the soul of his father symbolically back.The project resulted in a book “FATE – Keep on Licking”, a cookbook that reads like a travelogue. There was also a documentary made on Monday, the premiere is proposed.
At the premiere of the film, several items will be auctioned, such as signs of Kamagurka, a table and a pig with signatures of celebrity chefs. The proceeds go entirely to ” Kom op tegen Kanker.
