Candidate-prime minister of Italy throws in the towel

The Italian candidate-premier Guiseppe Conte is pulling the plug on his attempt to form a government. He does so because the Italian president Sergio Mattarella his veto allows for an appointment of the eurosceptic professor Paolo Savona (81) as minister of Economy.

By the decision of Conte looks like Italy is heading for new elections.
