Jan Smit is not at all “established” in the Top and it loves it. “It was fantastic”, says Jan against BuzzE about the first show of Toppers in Concert where he from beginning to end was involved. “It surpassed all of my wildest dreams.”
The stage of the Toppers in the Johan Cruijff ArenA is not new for john in recent years he has performed several times as a guest. “Last year, I established, inge-Topperd,” says the Volendam in February 2017 was announced as the fourth Winner and a few months later was ‘training’ during Toppers in Concert 2017. “Now I’m starting from day one been aware of all developments. Of the liedjeskeuze, to the fit of the suits and the cut of the medleys. I know everything from a to z.”
Because he is everywhere at was, Jan ’automatically’ to his business card issued in the fourteenth edition of Toppers in Concert, that the “loose” group on Saturday and Sunday in Amsterdam on the stage. “So, I sing in the beginning Perfect by Ed Sheeran; everyone has a solo and a private medley. I really wanted that intimate moment to share with 65,000 people.”
That was Friday night well, saw Jan. “I’m not in the area of Ed Sheeran, but it does work. I saw yesterday that everyone was singing along, of course, it is also a hell of a hit.”
Jan enjoy as a worthy Winner not only of the intimate moments, but also of the meezingmedleys where the blues formation is known. “This is perhaps the biggest event in Europe on this scale. Here you dream as an artist. I think it’s a great honor to be a part of the greatest, and it really feels like a reward.”
Because even though Jan really quite used to’ is, are the shows of the Talents ’unique’. “The atmosphere is beyond compare. It is also difficult to describe. I have from the first until the last second, really enjoyed it.”
Also Jans new colleagues, René Froger, Gerard Joling and Jeroen van der Boom are positive about the fourth Hit. “I know the boys very well. With all three I have for years, very good contact. They are very happy. At least, that’s what they said, maybe they think quite differently”, jokes Jan.
