The Australian Mitchelton-SCOTT after the first day the leading team in the Hammer Series in the Norwegian Stavanger. Especially thanks to Michael Albasini and Luke Hamilton collected it in the klimrit more than twice as many points as the German Sunweb. The Dutch LottoNL-Jumbo laid on the third place complete. Quick-Step Floors was fifth, Lotto Soudal seventh.
The Hammer Series is a revolutionary initiative of Velon (association of top teams), which was launched last year in the Dutch province of Limburg. This year, there are three driedaagses in which Hammer Series, and the backdrop of the first of these is the Norwegian Stavanger.
In the Hammer Series, it’s not about individual success, but to ploegbelang. During the first two days should riders during short, explosive stages scoring points for their team. On this basis, the starting order is determined for the team pursuit on Sunday. The first team that crossed the finish line, wins. Friday was the first day of the Hammer Stavanger the klimwedstrijd planned.
During that Hammer Climb, there were ten heavy rounds to wait of 8.5 km, with at the end of each round, a solid package items.
