Waasland-Beveren has a selection strengthened by Daan Heymans. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder come about from Westerlo and signed a contract for three seasons at the Freethiel.
“Daan is a young Belgian player with a good stature. He has, despite his young age, already have many matches played on high level. He was repeatedly seen by our scoutingscel and still very positive,” explains Daniel Declerck, hoofdscout of Waasland-Beveren, Thursday, on the team web site. “He is slip, plays on position ten, brings pace in the game by good inspeelpasses and a good vista. He definitely has a lot of potential!”
Heymans made his first voetbalstapjes at KSK Retie. Afterwards, he went to the youth academy of KVC Westerlo. In 2016 he signed a professional contract and he broke through into the first team. The midfielder made his debut as a 17-year-old in the Jupiler Pro League. After the relegation, he remained in the Proximus League for Westerlo football. Last season, he was in 26 games good for four goals and an assist, with a hattrick against Lierse as the highlight.
