Julia Louis-Dreyfus will receive this year’s Mark Twain Prize For American Humor. The price is fixed annually by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts at talents from the American comedywereld.
“Julia has the American culture is enriched with its iconic, memorable and downright hilarious humour”, said the president of the organization in a statement. “It’s been four decades late Julia us in a dent with her original characters and her gift for physical humor. Julia is a role model for so many, and we look forward to her honor.”
Julia reacted on Twitter to the announcement. “This is crazy”, she wrote about the news about the prize, which in October is to receive during a gala. The actress was known to the general public as Elaine from Seinfeld, and is since 2012 in Veep. For her role as vice-president Selina Meyer, she won a record six consecutive Emmy’s for best actress in a comedy.
