The Serbian coach Mladen Krstajic has a pre-selection with 27 players announced for the world cup in Russia. Thereby he preferred some of the talents above more experienced players, who teleurstelden in the past oefeninterlands. Among others, Ivan Obradovic (RSC Anderlecht) is not there. Uros Spajic, who recently Anderlecht left for Krasnodar, may still be hoping for world cup participation.
With Luka Milivojevic (Crystal Palace, ex-Anderlecht), Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio Rome), ex-Genk) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (Newcastle United, ex-Anderlecht) contains the Serbian pre-selection, still some players that were previously on the Belgian fields to admire.
Matija Nastasic (Schalke 04) is also still in the running. The central defender recovers currently of a knee injury, but he hopes in time be fit.
No later than 4 June Krstajic his final selection of 23 names to pass on to FIFA.
The Serbs play their first match at the world cup against Costa Rica (17/06). Then follow in group E still duels with Switzerland (22/06) and Brazil (27/06).
