Philip Mestdagh last Thursday, a pre-selection of twenty players announced for the world cup basketball (22-30 september) in the Spanish Tenerife. That communicated the Belgian basketbalbond.

It is our country’s first participation ever to a world CHAMPIONSHIP basketball (for both men and women). The Belgian Cats, last year in Prague bronzenmedaillewinnaar at the european CHAMPIONSHIPS, can count on sterspeelsters Emma Meesseman and Ann Wauters. Meesseman gave special to prepare for the world cup bundle for the WNBA season next summer. Sofie Hendrickx is missing in the selection. The Antwerp put at the end of march a point behind her international career.

The Cats, currently with 15 players train in Kortrijk, departing on 29 may to China where they are at the beginning of June three friendly matches to play against the Chinese women.

In August and september are still six friendly matches in Belgium. In between pulls the team to Spain. In Valencia is still a voorbereidingstoernooi played with as opponents Spain, Latvia and France.
