‘Ice Dragon’, a book of ‘Game of Thrones’writer George R. R. Martin, is transformed into a film. Warner Bros has plans for a new animated film on the story to follow. The author is himself also started as a producer of the film. That report entertainmentmagazine Deadline and confirmed by several American filmmagazines.
‘The Ice Dragon’, first published in 1980, is the story of a young girl and the ijsdraak which she befriends a mythical land of icy snow after the death of her mother.
The ijsdraak is a hauntingly, the legendary creature that people fear inspires, and in its wake only but bleak, frozen land behind them. The girl is not, however, afraid because she is a winterkind, born during the worst frost since time immemorial. The unusual friendship leads to the ijsdraak her defends against fiery dragons that the country threaten.
The film is expected in 2020. Martin has stated that ‘The Ice Dragon’ is not in the same world, playing as ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, the series of novels that was first published in 1991 and served as the basis for ‘Game of Thrones’. Fans should, therefore, not a new story in Westeros expect.
The HBO drama ‘Game of Thrones’ returns to television for the eighth and final season in 2019.
