NEW YORK – The American writer Philip Roth is Tuesday at the age of 85 died. This is reported in The New York Times.
Roth was considered one of the greatest American writers, and has won numerous literary awards, including a Pulitzer in 1997 and the Man Booker International Prize (2011). He was also a big contender for the Nobel prize for Literature.
Roth wrote much about the Jewish identity and political culture in the United States. Some of his most famous books include Portnoy’s Complaint (1969), American Pastoral (1997) and The Plot Against America (2004).
