A rare moment of complaints, during the award show of the Cannes film festival: actress Asia Argento (xXx) took the floor and called the audience in Cannes complicit in the evil deeds of Harvey Weinstein.

Argento was one of the first women in October last year, told that she is being abused by film producer Harvey Weinstein. They stood on the stage next to jury member Ava DuVernay the award for best actress, but was also given the opportunity to have a speech to give. And she did that with fire.

‘In 1997 I was by Harvey Weinstein raped in Cannes. I was 21. This festival was his hunting ground. I want to make a prediction: Harvey Weinstein will be here never more welcome. He will live in shame, spewed by the filmmaking that made him ever hugged and his crimes covered up.’

Then she turned straight to the audience in the room full of actors, directors, producers and powerful people in the (European) cinema. “Even last night, sitting there between you and the people who should be called to account for their conduct against women, conduct that does not belong in this industry and in any industry. “You know who You are.” But most of all: we know who you are. And we are going to here you will not longer let you get away.’

Asia Argento gained fame with the popular action film xXx. She is the daughter of horror Dario Argento (’Suspiria’). After her confession in ’The New Yorker’, she revealed that her self-directed film ’Scarlet diva’ is a processing of her experiences with Harvey Weinstein.
