CAIRO – clashes in recent days between the Egyptian army and islamic militants in the Sinai are nineteen militants were killed and twenty others arrested, reports the army on Thursday. This brings the total number of deaths since the beginning of the military operation to 296, of whom 35 soldiers.
The conflict in the Sinai to get worse when the previous president of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi of the muslim brotherhood, was deposed and replaced by current president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Fighters who have links with IS, since hundreds of soldiers and residents of the area killed.
Sisi gave in november of last year order to the IS branch in the Sinai to turn it off, after an attack by the jihadists in a mosque on the peninsula. That attack took at least three hundred people’s life.
