David Goffin (ATP-10) takes the Thursday in the eighth-finals of the Masters 1.000 tournament of Rome (4.872.105 euro) against the Argentine Juan Martin del Potro (ATP 6), the fifth seed on the clay in the Italian capital. The 29-year-old Del Potro switched Wednesday in the second round of the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP-43) in 1 hour and 42 minutes with 7-5 and 6-3.
Ninth seed Goffin qualified Tuesday for the eighth-finals by the Italian Marco Cecchinato (ATP-73) with 5-7, 6-2 and 6-2 defeat.
Goffin played twice before against Del Potro, each time on hard courts. In mid-October of 2016 won the 27-year-old Liège born in Shanghai in the first round with a 4-6, 6-3 and 7-5. Two weeks later, Del Potro revenge with a 7-5, 6-3 victory in the eighth-finals in Basel.
