The former German international Heiko Westermann away his football boots at the age of 34 permanently. The central defender from Austria Vienna troubles for months with a cartilage defect in the knee, and sees a comeback not anymore.
“There comes a moment when your body makes it clear that you better stop playing football. I am now at this point attained. My journey in professional football is over”, says the German, who by the injury since november, not a match more played.
Westermann wore in his career with the shirt of Greuther Fürth, Arminia Bielefeld, Schalke 04, Hamburg, Betis Sevilla, Ajax and Austria Vienna. Between 2008 and 2014, he collected 27 caps for the national team and made it four goals.
