Former cyclist Lieuwe Westra (35) has in his career cortisonen used. That gives the last year, stopped a Dutchman in an excerpt of his book the Beast, The wielerleven of Lieuwe Westra in the Leeuwarder Courant.
“I sprayed it in my own body to increase cycling, to prices, to deal, to compliments, to take delivery,” says Westra in the book against author Thomas Sijtsma. “In my first profjaar was clear to me that only hard work out there are no victories were achieved. If you wanted to join in with the big boys, you had the limits of the permissible search.”
Westra was never caught on the use of doping. According to the Dutchman, was that because he was covered by a medical certificate. “The medical certificate, I got often with a feigned injury, for example, an inflammation in the knee,” says Westra in the magazine.
During his career, wore Westra the shirt of Vacansoleil and Astana. He was two-time national time-trial champion, won stages in Paris-Nice and the Critérium du Dauphiné, and wrote, in 2016, the Three days De Panne-Koksijde on his name.
