Fortuna Sittard-trainer Kevin Hofland can hardly believe that he is the club Saturday together with the Portuguese Claudio Braga after sixteen years back to the Premier league led.
The Limburgers had the title in the Jupiler League while at Ajax, but insured themselves thanks to a 1-0 victory at Jong PSV from the second place and return after a very eventful few years back at the highest level.
“A beautiful moment. It reminds me very much, just as many others here. It is actually incredible”, said an emotional Hofland, who as former player of Fortuna the baton in February took over from the fired coach Sunday Oliseh, against FOX Sports.
“The boys have all done well, and the reaction in the stadium was fantastic. This moment is indescribable. Two years ago the club nearly to death, and this year happened a lot, but here we are anyway.”
Fortuna weighed in 2009 on financial on the edge of the abyss, but in the end still hold a license. After many years of financial and sporting malaise returns to the club now back in the Eredivisie.
