WASHINGTON/BRUSSELS – The newly appointed American minister of Foreign Affairs, Mike Pompeo, is to work with a trip to the NATO headquarters in Brussels. Pompeo is Friday in the Belgian capital, welcomed by NATO chief Jens) and he speaks later with his NATO colleagues.
Pompeo will also separate talk with the British minister of Foreign Affairs of Boris Johnson and the German colleague Heiko Maas. Pompeo counts as a right-wing conservative who, until recently, the boss of the intelligence service CIA. He is the successor of the president, Trump dismissed minister Rex Tillerson.
The NATO ministers speak about the difficult relationship with Russia, the situation in Afghanistan, military training in Iraq and the question of how the possible future NATO countries, Georgia, Macedonia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
