Kimmer Coppejans (ATP 338) has on Thursday placed for the quarter-finals of the Challengertoernooi in the Italian Francavilla (gravel/43.000 euro).
Coppejans beat in the quarter-final, Argentina’s Andrea Collarini (ATP 240) in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 7-5) after a marathonmatch. The duel lasted for a whopping two hours and 54 minutes.
The 24-year-old Coppejans reached the main table in Francavilla as a lucky loser. He was killed in the qualifications against compatriot Joris De Loore (ATP 319), but was later revived. In the first round knocked Coppejans then Ruben Bemelmans (ATP 107), which, however, the first seed was.
In the quarter finals takes Coppejans against the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor (ATP 237), which in Francavilla also the doubles partner of Ruben Bemelmans. They were Wednesday off in the quarterfinals.
