“No, winter is not coming”, says Martin in a statement referring to the well-known motto ‘winter is coming’ in the series. “In any case, not in 2018. You will still have to wait for The Winds of Winter.”
Martin brought in 2011 the last part A Dance with Dragons. It was the first book that came out after the successful tv series Game of Thrones started on HBO. The series is now in the storyline the books have already passed. The last season of the fantasyreeks in 2019 expected.
Martins took them six years for A Dance with Dragons to write. When The Winds of Winter began he was more optimistic. He expected within three years to be ready. Then threw he out on a date “somewhere between 2015 and 2018.”
The writing ran delayed because Martin is also involved in the tv series. He also wrote the book Fire and Blood about the history of the Targaryen family from the A Song of Ice and Fire series. That book is coming in november.
