The prestigious German music award Echo will no longer be awarded. The German music industry has decided for the fuss that has arisen over the awarding of the prize to two rappers on their album anti-jewish texts employed.

On their award-winning album the rappers Kollegah and Farid Bang lyrics like ‘Do but again a Holocaust, and My body is tighter than that of a prisoner in Auschwitz’. Anger over the awarding of the prize to the German rapduo gave a number of winners of the award back. Among them are conductors Christian Thielemann and Daniel Barenboim.
