Singer and musician Patrick Riguelle submit tomorrow the oath as councillor for the sp.a in Mechelen. The 56-year-old Riguelle, known from The Last Show-band, stood out in 2012 for the first time on a verkiezingslijst but holds a opvolgersplaats. He is happy that he is still active commitment to show and will focus on the themes of culture and society follow-up.
“I have six years ago the project of sp.a Mechelen supported, but never thought that I effective in the local politics would go. It is a leap in the dark, but now I go my civic duty to fulfill,” says Riguelle. “My main theme is culture. I am already a long time to Mechelen, even before I lived here, and especially the musical subculture that here was then, so it attracted me. But that is now what to the end, that ‘culture with an edge’ and that kind of projects I want to continue to support. I think that, for example, the Dijlefeesten, concerts and Sharabang or Jazz@Home. Tomorrow is my first city council, I will mainly listen to what happened, you have to start somewhere, hey.”
