HAVANA – Miguel Diaz-Canel on Thursday ingezworen as president of Cuba. He is the successor to Raúl Castro, who after two terms of office of retiring.
The National Assembly of Cuba pointed to Diaz-Canel Wednesday as the successor of Castro. It is the first time since the beginning of sixties of the previous century that the country was no longer ruled by the Castro family.
In Cuba no elections held. The president is elected by the parliamentarians, all members of the communist party, of the National Assembly.
