Spielberg has finally succumbed: one of the greatest filmmakers of the past decades will work together with Warner Bros. to the action-adventure movie ‘Blackhawk’, based on a character from the DC Comics universe, to directing. That message entertainmentmagazine Variety.
It is the very first superheldenfilm of Spielberg, who over the past few decades numerous classics and blockbusters produced, such as ‘Jaws’, ‘Close Encounters of the Third kind’, ‘E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial’, the ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘Jurassic Park’franchises, and his most recent writ; ‘Ready Player One’ for Warner Bros. That film brought a worldwide 476 million dollars since its release last month.
The script of ‘Blackhawk’ is from the pen of David Koepp, who previously collaborated with Spielberg for the blockbusters ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’, ‘War of the Worlds” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’.
‘Blackhawk’ saw in 1941 the light of day when Quality Comics was first introduced, before it was acquired by DC Comics in 1957. In the comics, is Blackhawk the leader of the Blackhawk Squadron, an elite group of gevechtspiloten that was active during the Second world War.
Spielberg is currently in full swing with the preparations for a fifth ‘Indiana Jones’movie. Then he will be a remake of ‘West Side Story’ work. Only then will he on ‘Blackhawk’ deposit. So, it is still unclear when the filming for the movie will start.
