PSV coach Phillip Cocu could Wednesday night live fine with the point of the new champion on a visit to Roda JC (2-2). The 47-year-old coach felt that his team, despite all the festivities of the past few days, a good game played in Kerkrade.
“At Roda you saw at the end of the match a few players with cramping, walking, while we after two days of hearty partying and a half training still well able to sustain”, said Cocu at FOX Sports. “I am so proud of my players.”
PSV came three days after the championship swim meet against Ajax (3-0) and two days after the ceremony in the centre of Eindhoven twice behind against degradatiekandidaat Roda JC (goals of Jannes Vansteenkiste and Simon Gustafson), but the Brabançon made through Hirving Lozano and Jorrit Hendrix (in the 86th minute) two times the same.
“I think that the team cleverly done”, said Cocu. “We have a lot of energy in the match stopped and I find the class that players are yet again back in the race, have fought for.”
“I had the players for the match said that there are probably a few moments would be that they themselves would encounter. There you must then convert, and that is what they have done. I find that we are glad bursts of very nice football played and the tactics are well executed. All in all still had a point.”
