Coach Ronald Koeman regrets the decision of Bas Dost in order to put an end to the Dutch national team.

“I find it a pity that he stops, I saw certainly still a role for him in the Dutch national team”, says the keuzeheer on the website of the KNVB.

“My start as a coach, I have said that I am the first of four international matches for players and modes to try out, so in that sense, there is a lot still open. But I respect the choice he makes, because I understand that he will feel longer.”
Koeman suggested the Dost in his first duel with England, but he gave three days later the preference to Ryan Babel against Portugal. For Dost were in that duel no speelminuten to play. As a result, decided the attacker from Sporting Lisbon is no longer available. “Bas has given me the personal told, I think that’s very neat,” said Koeman, who on may 31, with Orange against Slovakia exercises. Four days later, Italy is the opponent.
