The Dutch cinemas spend the next few weeks a lot of attention to the birthday of Annie M. G. Schmidt. In countless theatres around may 18, the film adaptations of the books of the famous writer again on a large screen, confirm the theaters a message from The newspaper het Parool.

Annie M. G. Schmidt is regarded as one of the greatest Dutch writers of the twentieth century. They came in 1936 to Amsterdam and got a job as a librarian. In 1946 she was two documentalists in The newspaper het Parool, where colleagues soon her songwriting discovered. Schmidt wrote dozens of books, songs and musicals. In 1995 died of it at age 84.
