Old-BZN-guitarist Cees Tol (70) died

Old-guitarist Cees Tol of BZN in the night from Thursday to Friday, died suddenly. Toll died at the age of 70 in the hospital to the consequences of a sudden pneumonia.

A spokesman of Volendam Music has the news confirmed. Singer Jan Smit posted Friday on social media a reminder to Cees Tol. Toll wrote a few years ago texts for Smith. After a stroke a few years ago, stopped for a Toll with work; he was not more in the public.

The guitarist played between 1966 and 1988 in the successful band BZN. Together with Jan Tuijp he wrote a number of the largest succesliederen of the band, such as Pearlydrumm, Just an Illusion, and Amore. In the late eighties, formed the Volendam, and his brother Thomas, the duo Tol & Tol. One of their biggest hits was the song Eleni.
