UCI president David Lappartient has repeated that he is on a quick settlement of the dopingaffaire around Chris Froome hopes. “I don’t think there will be a decision for the Giro will fall, but hopefully for the Tour,” says the Frenchman Wednesday in l’equipe.
“This matter involves everyone, the organizers, the UCI, the rider himself in an untenable situation. A rider that is a part of the public against himself, that is not a view, which we favour,” continues Lappartient.
File Froome is currently the antidopingtribunaal of the UCI. That body must decide on the abnormally high salbutamolwaarden that the Brit during the Vuelta of last year showed growth.
“It is a complex procedure and the rider has more resources than others. He has good lawyers on his side, just as we are,” says the UCI president. “He maintains his innocence, standing. There is a lot of research work on the shelf.”
On 4 may start in Jerusalem, the Tour of Italy, the first important goal of Froome this season. Well, two months later, on 7 July, hopes the Sky-rider are hunting to open a fifth Tourzege. His next race is the Tour des Alpes (16-20 april).
