Sunweb is counting on Edward Theuns in Amstel Gold Race

Edward Theuns appears Sunday at the start of the Amstel Gold Race. Our 26-year-old compatriot is included in the selection of Sunweb. That has the Dutch team on Wednesday announced.

Theuns finished the season on the sixth place in the Omloop het Nieuwsblad. Last Sunday, he was 24th in Paris-Roubaix.

Sunweb gambling in the Amstel Gold Race, especially on the Dane Søren Kragh Andersen, the Australian Michael Matthews, and the German Simon Geschke. “It is a more open contest, with more opportunities for attackers”, said sports director Aike Visbeek earlier. “The focus is on us, the first 200 kilometers in the protection of the leaders, who then have to position. We have with Søren, Michael, and Simon several strengths in the house plus only riders with lots of experience in the Limburg hills.”

In addition to Theuns is also the German Johannes Fröhlinger and the Dutchmen Mike Teunissen and Laurens ten Dam for Sunweb in action.
