Napoli is Sunday narrowly escaped loss of points in the battle for the title in Serie A. The team of coach Maurizio Sarri won thanks to two late goals, 2-1 of laagvlieger Chievo Verona.
Dries Mertens had after 51 minutes as the ideal opportunity to make Napoli the lead to convert, but the Belgian missed a penalty kick. Twenty minutes later, Mariusz Stepinski for the surprising lead on behalf of Chievo.
The home team looked like a defeat to be heading, but substitute and old-following his departure to chelsea Arek Owned made one minute before time. In a last final assault drew Amadou Diawara deep in injury time for the 2-1.
The victory brought Napoli behind leader Juventus back to four points with seven games to go. The ‘Old Lady’ won Saturday with 2-4 of Benevento.
