The influential jazz pianist Cecil Taylor is dead. The co-founder of the free improvisatiestijl Free Jazz, died on Thursday at age 89 in his home in Brooklyn, New York reports the New York Times Friday. About the cause of death nothing is known.

Taylor was in 1929 in New York born and started with piano lessons as a child. Later he studied harmony and composition and he founded various groups. The award-winning musician performed until a high age.
Until last lived in Taylor, as an elderly man, alone in a house in Brooklyn, but was still busy with music. ,,What I do, is create a language”, he once said in an interview. ,,Another American language.”
