Slovenian ex-ski jumper wins the time trial in the Basque country and takes leader’s jersey from Alaphilippe

The fourth stage of the Tour of the Basque country was an ideal fit for the hand of Primoz Roglic. The Slovenian won with force majeure, the individual time trial and takes the leader’s jersey of Julian Alaphilippe. Roglic count in the overall standings for more than half a minute ahead of his French competitor.

The New Zealander Patrick Bevin continued, pretty soon the masked down. The BMC rider ground 19 km in 22’35”, a time where for a long time no one also but a little in the near. It was waiting for Spanish champion Castroviejo but he came five seconds deficit to Bevin to beat, Kwiatkowski had eleven seconds to admit it. Ex-world champion Kyrienka did two seconds slower than Bevin. With Dylan Teuns and Thomas De Gendt on something more than a half a minute of Bevin continued to perform well in two compatriots more than decent.

At the top of the rankings was especially looking forward to Primoz Roglic. The Slovenian finished in this round already twice second behind Alaphilippe but as the vice-world champion time trial if he is also the dagwinst aspire to. Roglic rode a strong time trial, and eventually ten seconds faster than Bevin. Klassementsleider Julian Alaphilippe realized a moderate time and in the end had 42 seconds to admit to its Slovenian competitor.

With his win in the time trial took ex-ski jumper Roglic immediately the leader’s jersey of Alaphilippe. Roglic has now 34 seconds ahead of his French challenger.
