The Amsterdam ArenA is renamed the Johan Cruijff ArenA. All involved parties have, after long discussions, finally agreed on the name of the permanent home base of Ajax. Around 25 april, the birthday of the legendary football player, is the new logo of the ArenA revealed. With effect from the next football season, called the stadium officially became the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

All involved parties had in april last year, expressed the intention for the stadium after the legendary number 14, which is in 2016 at age 68, died of lung cancer. There were agreements made about a new ownership and the way in which the company would be led, but it took much longer than expected to get all the agreements in a contract. The intention was that within a half-year basis.
Jordi Cruyff had recently, on behalf of the family know the delay is very disappointing to find. “As a wait-and-see party, we don’t know exactly what’s going on,” said son George. “We can say ‘forget it’, but that we do not want. I think he Cruijff ArenA now deserves.” A few weeks later, all parties are still found in a chord. The preparations for the name change of the ArenA are already in full swing.
