Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been fired as coach of Northampton Town. The former attacker is held responsible for the poor results of his team.
The 46-year-old Hasselbaink saw his team Monday lose of Peterborough United. It was the ninth match in a row without victory for the ‘Cobblers’.
By the defeat dropped down to Northampton Town, with still five matches to play to the 22nd place of League One, the third level in England. The league has 24 teams.
“This does hurt us because Jimmy has worked hard here,” said chairman Kelvin Thomas. “But we found that we are in the best interest of the club had to act.”
Hasselbaink signed in september a three-year contract with the team, which at that time puntloos on the last place in the league.
The former striker of Orange was previously a trainer of Antwerp, Burton Albion and Queens Park Rangers. At QPR he was in november 2016, also already dismissed because of moderate performance.
