Sisi leads with 21.5 million votes in the elections in Egypt

CAIRO – Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is leading the provisional election results, with 21.5 million votes, reports the staatskrant Akhbar el-Youm.

Sisi knows in the elections with virtually no opposition, because all the other serious candidates have been arrested or intimidated. The only remaining challenger, Moussa Mostafa Moussa, himself a supporter of Sisi, is on 721.000 votes.

There are approximately 60 million eligible voters in Egypt. Some say that they are paid to vote. The final outcome is on Monday expected.
